Understanding the map icons

The pendant’s latest location is shown by the small circular marker  together with how long ago it last sent an update. If you see the Home Locàite icon house-icon instead, this means the pendant is connected wirelessly to the charging base and is reporting the location you stored in Settings > Home Locàite. If you are using Room Locàite, you’ll see  Room locaite location  together with the name and location of the closest beacon.

If there has been movement, other recent locations are also shown, gradually fading with time. Arrows show the direction in which the device was moving at each time.

The following icons are shown on the map.

open-iconTap to view the device’s last location on your phone’s own map and compare to your current location or access route guidance, etc. (Return to the Locàite app for further location updates).

Tap history-icon to view the previous 60 locations on the map, which can be up to 3 hours depending on your selected update frequency.

Tip: When using only GPS, it’s normal for the device’s position to move a little on the map, even if the pendant is stationary and especially if it is indoors. Using the Home Locàite feature will ensure the best possible accuracy at home and greatly extend the battery life too.

more-icon Tap to see further tracking and call actions.

  • Request location contacts the pendant to request the latest location. If not connected to Home Locàite, it will take a short time to switch on GPS and check.

 Home Locàite

Change your Home Locàite stored address.

When the charging base is switched on and the pendant is within range (closer than about 15 metres), the map automatically shows the house-icon icon, which represents the saved Home Locàite address. This feature also helps to greatly extend the battery life of the pendant, because the GPS receiver remains off when it knows you are at home and automatically activates when you move outside, away from the charging base.

  Room Locàite

View, rename and set the location of your Room Locàite beacons.

Tap a beacon to rename and change the colour shown in the 7 day movement chart and also it’s position on the map.

You can also Adjust beacons signal level, but please contact our support team to discuss and understand its effects before increasing or decreasing.

Advanced notifications

Device disconnects

Choose to receive smartphone notifications if the pendant doesn’t send any updates for the selected time period.

This would usually indicate the pendant has been turned off, is out of battery or can’t connect to the mobile network.

Device charging

Choose to receive smartphone notifications when the pendant is placed on, or removed from charge.

Device settings

Tap to connect to the pendant in real time and adjust various settings that are stored on the device itself.

If you couldn’t connect, wait a few minutes and try again.

Update frequency

Choose how often to update the pendant’s location when moving and when stationary. The more frequently you update, the more battery will be used.

Emergency contacts

Store up to 3 emergency contacts who will be telephoned in turn after a fall or SOS button press.

We recommend that each Emergency contact switches off their voicemail, but there are safeguards in place to automatically move to the next number even if a voicemail answers.

To end the calling sequence, a contact must press “1” on their keypad during the call.

You can choose to Only allow incoming calls from these contacts and calls from other numbers will be blocked.

SOS alarm

Hold down the SOS button for a few seconds to trigger an SOS alert. You can change the SOS button operation to a Double press if preferred.

The pendant will vibrate, optional voice prompts will describe what the pendant is doing and all authorised Locàite app users will receive smartphone notifications. Additionally, up to 3 emergency contacts (entered in the Locàite app Device Settings screen) will then be called in turn, until one answers. We advise you to switch off any voicemail facility on the emergency numbers as the calling sequence will stop when answered.

The wearer can end the call by clicking the SOS button.

An emergency contact must press “1” on their phone keypad during the call to prevent further contacts being called for this alarm.

We advise you to switch off any voicemail facility to ensure subsequent contacts are dialled quickly if one contact can’t answer, but the pendant will dial the next contact once the answerphone hangs up.

Fall alarm

When the Tracker senses a fall, it beeps 10 times to inform the wearer that an alarm has been triggered. Click the SOS button during these beeps to cancel the alarm.

All authorised Locàite app users will be notified when a Fall is detected. Additionally, up to 3 emergency contacts (entered in the Locàite app settings page) will then be called in turn, until one answers.

You can adjust the Sensitivity of the fall detection as required. Please contact our support team if you would like further explanation of the Fall alarm.

No motion alarm

If no motion is detected for the selected time, the pendant will alarm once. It will reset after the next motion.

Low battery alarm

When the battery level falls to approximately 15% all app users will be notified, but it’s best to keep the battery topped up as often as possible.

Controls

Switch the Device LEDs and pendant’s Voice prompts on and off.

Pendant and Charging Base help

Charging

Before using your Locaite.me pendant, please place it in the charging base for at least 3 to 4 hours. The pendant will vibrate when positioned correctly and the led on the base will also slowly change brightness when the pendant is charging. If you have any trouble positioning the pendant, slowly rotate the pendant a little and it will “click” into place. Recharge for at least 3 to 4 hours every few days. You can monitor battery level via the Locàite app.

Tip: Many people keep the charging base beside their bed at night, so it is close by and fully charged each night.

Switching on and off

To turn the pendant ON, press and hold the Direct Call button on the side for 2 seconds. The LEDs will flash and the pendant will vibrate. Charging the pendant will also turn it on, unless the battery is completely exhausted.

To turn OFF, press and hold both the SOS button and Direct Call buttons at the same time until it vibrates and the LEDs flash off (about 3 seconds).

Locaite.me 4g buttons

The charging base also contains a battery to allow you to charge your pendant in the event of a power cut. It will last for a day or two when unplugged.

To turn the charging base ON, simply plug it or press and hold the Direct Call button for 2 seconds.

To turn OFF, unplug it from the wall then press and hold both the SOS button and Direct Call buttons at the same time until the LED turns green (about 3 seconds).

Emergency calling

SOS call – Hold down the SOS button for a few seconds to trigger an SOS alert (you can change this to a Double press via the app).

The pendant will vibrate, optional voice prompts will describe what the pendant is doing and all authorised Locàite app users will receive smartphone notifications. Additionally, up to 3 emergency contacts (entered in the Locàite app Device Settings screen) will then be called in turn, until one answers.

Direct Call – Hold the Direct Call button for a few seconds to call the 2nd emergency contact without raising an alarm. We can change this to a different contact if required – just get in touch with our support team.

Locaite.me 4g buttons

Ending a call – The wearer can end the call by clicking the SOS button or you can end the call by simply hanging up. You need to press “1” on your keypad before you hang up or the pendant will call the next number.

You can also initiate an SOS or Direct call from the charging base if the LED is showing as dark blue, which means the pendant is within range and wirelessly connected. Note that the speaker and microphone for the call are within the pendant, so that would need to be close to allow two way talking.

And remember that you can also call the pendant directly from your own phone as required. You can limit the allowed callers to just the emergency contacts from within the Locàite app.

LEDs

Pendant LEDs

There are three LEDs on the side of the pendant that let you know the current status of the pendant’s connections by the way they flash. Double flashes for each LED represent normal operation. You can switch the pendant LEDs off via the app.

  • Green represents the mobile network connection and will flash every few seconds.
    • Single flash (*—– *—–) means it is successfully connected to the mobile phone network and can make calls and texts.

    • Double flash (*-*— *-*—) means it is connected to the app.

    • Long flash (***— ***—) means your pendant is searching for a mobile signal. (If this persists, please move your tracker to a window or outside for best signal.)

  • Blue represents the GPS signal and will be seen occasionally when the pendant is updating its location.
  • Red represents the Home Locàite or Room Locàite connection and will be seen when the pendant is near the charging base or Room Locàite beacon.

Locaite.me LEDs

Charging base LEDs

The single ring LED will change colour depending on circumstances and will normally be light blue and turn to dark blue when the pendant is nearby. The LED will slowly pulse when charging the pendant.

You can switch off the charging base LED by pressing and holding the left and right buttons simultaneously.

Voice Prompts

Both the pendant and charging base have separate voice prompts to describe their operation. You can switch these on and off using the respective voice prompts button. You can also switch pendant’s voice prompts on and off remotely via the app.

How to wear or carry Locaite.me 4g

You can choose from a number of ways to wear or carry the Locàite pendant.

You’ll find a neck lanyard and keyring clip included in the box and we have have an optional wrist strap or belt clip available to purchase separately.

Lanyard (included)

The simplest way to wear the Locàite pendant is to use the lanyard and wear around the neck.

Attach the lanyard by following the brief instructions below.

Press the sides of the clip to separate from the cord, then thread the thin string through the lanyard loop.

Pop the plastic clip back through the loop of string and tighten. Clip back on to the lanyard.

Hold down the button and slide to adjust the length of the lanyard. This will allow the pendant to sit higher or lower on your chest.

This safety catch will pop open if the lanyard gets caught on anything. Simply click back together if required.

Keyring clip (included)

If you prefer to attach Locàite to a keyring, please see the instructional images below that show the easiest way to attach the clip and ring to the device. It may look a little tricky, but it’s relatively straightforward and you don’t need a lot of finger strength using this method.

Separate the circular split ring a little and paritially insert the round end of the clip.

Now that the split ring is held open, it’s easy to twist through the lanyard hole on the device. Keep twisting until secure.

Now clip to existing keys. You may prefer to use a little padlock instead. Follow the same procedure to remove the split ring if required.
